RESOLUTION NO. 2025-535
RESOLUTION APPROVING ACKNOWLEDGMENT/SETTLEMENT
AGREEMENT FOR TOBACCO VIOLATION - SECOND OFFENSE
WITH KWIK STAR #580, 506 W. 9TH STREET, WATERLOO, IOWA,
AND ACCEPTANCE OF A CIVIL PENALTY IN THE AMOUNT OF
$1,500.00, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, Kwik Star #580, 506 W. 9th Street, Waterloo, Iowa, has been identified as
being in violation of state tobacco laws concerning the sale of tobacco products to minors, which
constitutes a second offense; and
WHEREAS, an Acknowledgment/Settlement Agreement has been proposed for this
second offense, which includes the acceptance of a civil penalty to be imposed on Kwik Star
#580; and
WHEREAS, the proposed civil penalty for this offense is $1,500.00, in accordance with
applicable state and local regulations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA,
1. The City Council hereby approves the Acknowledgment/Settlement Agreement
concerning the tobacco violation as a second offense with Kwik Star #580, located at 506 W. 9th
Street, Waterloo, Iowa, acknowledging their responsibility and accepting the terms of the
settlement.
2. A civil penalty in the amount of $1,500.00 shall be accepted as full settlement of the
second offense tobacco violation by Kwik Star #580.
3. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute said document on
behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
