RESOLUTION NO. 2025-649
RESOLUTION APPROVING AWARD OF HOTEL/MOTEL
TAX COUNCIL DISCRETIONARY FUNDS TO THE
WATERLOO POLICE DEPARTMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF
$45,000.00.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo manages hotel/motel tax revenues to support activities
and organizations that enhance tourism and local cultural initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the Waterloo Police Department has applied for discretionary funds to
further its mission of providing a proactive police presence at community events to provide a
safe, family friendly atmosphere in which to showcase the community; and
WHEREAS, the allocation of $45,000.00 from the hotel/motel tax discretionary funds
will support the Waterloo Police Department in expanding its protective services, thereby
promoting local tourism and cultural engagement; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that funding the Waterloo Police
Department aligns with the City's cultural and economic development objectives.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA,
1. The award of $45,000.00 from the hotel/motel tax council discretionary funds to the
Waterloo Police Department is hereby approved.
2. The funds shall be used in accordance with the proposal submitted by the Waterloo
Police Department, ensuring alignment with the City's goals for cultural and tourism
enhancement.
