RESOLUTION NO. 2025-702 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AND APPROVING AN ACQUISITION CONTRACT AND APPROVING A DEED TO SELL REAL PROPERTY TO THE CITY OF WATERLOO FOR A PARTIAL RIGHT-OF-WAY ACQUISITION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,256.00, A TEMPORARY EASEMENT AGREEMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $4,244.00, A TOTAL COMPENSATION AMOUNT OF $8,500.00, WITH STEELSMITH PROPERTIES, LLC, LOCATED AT 1911 EAST MITCHELL AVENUE AND 820 LA PORTE ROAD, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE LA PORTE ROAD PHASE II RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENTS. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is conducting the La Porte Road Phase II Reconstruction Project, necessitating partial right-of-way acquisition; and WHEREAS, an Acquisition Contract and Deed with Steelsmith Properties, LLC, for property located at 1911 East Mitchell Avenue and 820 La Porte Road, have been negotiated; and WHEREAS, the agreement includes the following components: Partial Right -of -Way Acquisition: $4,256.00 Temporary Easement Agreement: $4,244.00 Total Compensation Amount: $8,500.00 WHEREAS, acquiring the necessary land rights is critical to the project's success. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, that: 1.The Acquisition Contract and Deed with Steelsmith Properties, LLC, encompassing compensation as described above are hereby approved. 2. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute said documents on behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1st day of December 2025.
