RESOLUTION NO. 2025-695
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SUSPENSION OF CIVIL
SERVICE HIRING PRACTICES FOR ENTRANCE LEVEL
POSITIONS AS AUTHORIZED BY IOWA CODE SECTION
400.12A FOR THE TIME PERIOD OF JANUARY 7, 2026,
THROUGH JANUARY 6, 2027.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo seeks to optimize hiring processes for entrance -level
positions; and
WHEREAS, Iowa Code section 400.12A permits the suspension of Civil Service hiring
practices under certain conditions; and
WHEREAS, the suspension is intended to improve recruitment efficiency and
responsiveness to emerging staffing needs; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed beneficial to suspend these practices for a specified time
period.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. The suspension of Civil Service hiring practices for entrance -level positions, as
authorized by Iowa Code section 400.12A, is hereby approved for the period of January 7, 2026
through January 6, 2027.
