RESOLUTION NO. 2026-002 RESOLUTION SETTING THE DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING AS FEBRUARY 2, 2026, AUTHORIZING TO ACQUIRE OR CONDEMN NECESSARY PROPERTY FOR RIGHT-OF-WAY, PERMANENT EASEMENTS, AND TEMPORARY EASEMENTS RELATED TO THE LA PORTE ROAD RECONSTRUCTION PHASE III PROJECT ALONG LA PORTE ROAD, GENERALLY LOCATED SOUTH OF EAST RIDGEWAY AVENUE TO BOPP STREET, AND INSTRUCT THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is engaged in the planning and execution of the La Porte Road Reconstruction Phase III Project along La Porte Road, from south of East Ridgeway Avenue to Bopp Street; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to acquire or condemn certain properties for right-of-way, permanent easements, and temporary easements essential for the successful completion of this project; and WHEREAS, a public hearing is required to consider the necessity and public interest of such acquisitions prior to proceeding; and WHEREAS, it is in the public interest to set a formal hearing date to ensure transparency and gather public input on these proposed actions. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, that: 1. The public hearing be set for February 2, 2026, to discuss the necessity of acquiring or condemning property for the La Porte Road Reconstruction Phase III Project. 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of said public hearing in accordance with applicable laws and city policies, ensuring adequate notice to the public.
