RESOLUTION NO. 2013-686A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE RECOMMENDATION OF ACCEPTANCE AS TO WORK AND MATERIALS FURNISHED BY BOULDER CONTRACTING OF GRUNDY CENTER, IOWA, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE F.Y. 2013 RIVERVIEW RECREATION AREA RESTROOM, CONTRACT NO. 841, AND ACCEPTING THE WORK. WHEREAS, Boulder Contracting of Grundy Center, Iowa, has under contract with the City of Waterloo, Iowa, furnished certain materials and performed labor at a total cost of $53,277.50 in conjunction with the F.Y. 2013 Riverview Recreation Area Restroom, Contract No. 841, in the City of Waterloo, Iowa. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the Certificate of Completion and Recommendation of Acceptance be and the same hereby approved. RESOLUTION NO. 2013-686 RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A PUBLIC REFERENDUM FOR A CULTURAL & SCIENTIFIC FACILITIES LEVY TO AUTHORIZE THE IMPOSITION OF A PROPERTY TAX OF TWENTY-SEVEN CENTS ($.27) PER $1,000.00 OF ASSESSED VALUE IN THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, TO BE EFFECTIVE ON JULY 1, 2014. WHEREAS, Chapter 384.12(4) of the Iowa Code authorizes the imposition of certain local option taxes after an election in which the majority of the electors vote in the affirmative, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa is requesting that a referendum be held on November 5, 2013, for the imposition of a property tax of twenty-seven cents ($.27) per $1,000.00 of assessed value in the city of Waterloo for the purpose of supporting the annual operating budget of the Grout Museum, Inc. (doing business as the Grout Museum District: Grout Museum of History & Science, Rensselaer Russell House Museum, Bluedorn Science Imaginarium, Snowden House and the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum), and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, declares its intent to hold a special election for the purpose of permitting the electorate to pass upon the proposition of imposing a property tax of twenty-seven cents ($.27) per $1,000.00 of assessed value for the city of Waterloo according to Chapter 384.12(1)(a) of the 2013 Code of Iowa. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA: Section 1. That the County Commissioner of Elections of Black Hawk County is hereby directed to give notice of submitting to the voters of the city of Waterloo for November 5, 2013, the following proposition: "To authorize the imposition of a property tax of twenty-seven cents ($.27) per $1,000.00 of assessed value in the city of Waterloo to be effective on January 1, 2014." Section 2. That revenues from the property tax are to be allocated in the city of Waterloo as follows: One hundred percent (1000) of the revenue generated in the City of Waterloo, Iowa, be designated for supporting the annual operating budget of the Grout Museum, Inc. (doing business as the Grout Museum District: Grout Museum of History & Science, Rensselaer Russell House Museum, Bluedorn Science Imaginarium, Snowden House and the Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum), all within the corporate limits of the City of Waterloo. Ballot Language: To authorize the imposition of a property tax of twenty-seven cents ($.27) per $1,000.00 of assessed value in the city of Waterloo to be effective on January 1, 2014.
