RESOLUTION NO. 2026-057
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A NATURAL GAS
FACILITIES CONSTRUCTION REIMBURSEMENT
AGREEMENT WITH MIDAMERICAN ENERGY COMPANY,
OF DES MOINES, IOWA, IN THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF
$1,389,880.00, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE GAS MAIN
EXTENSION TO SERVICE W.A.R.P. 5TH ADDITION AND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID
DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa desires to facilitate extension of natural gas
infrastructure to serve development within W.A.R.P. 5th Addition; and
WHEREAS, MidAmerican Energy Company, of Des Moines, Iowa is the natural gas
utility provider that will design and construct a gas main extension and related facilities
necessary to provide natural gas service to W.A.R.P. 5th Addition; and
WHEREAS, the City and MidAmerican desire to enter into a Natural Gas Facilities
Construction Reimbursement Agreement to establish the terms and conditions under which the
City will reimburse MidAmerican for eligible costs associated with the gas main extension; and
WHEREAS, the estimated amount of the City's reimbursement obligation under the
Agreement is $1,389,880.00; and
WHEREAS, City staff recommend approval of the Agreement and authorization for
execution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. The Natural Gas Facilities Construction Reimbursement Agreement between the City
of Waterloo, Iowa and MidAmerican Energy Company, of Des Moines, Iowa, in the estimated
amount of $1,389,880.00, for reimbursement of costs in connection with a gas main extension to
service W.A.R.P. 5th Addition, is hereby approved.
2. The Mayor is authorized and directed to execute said documents on behalf of the City
of Waterloo, Iowa.
