RESOLUTION NO. 2013-119
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WATERLOO, IOWA, APPROVING APPLICATION TO
THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR
SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL FUNDING AND DIRECTING
EXECUTION OF SAID APPLICATION BY MAYOR.
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation provides
Safe Routes to School funds on a competitive basis to projects
that improve pedestrian and bicycle safety around elementary and
middle schools; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo will develop and distribute a
series of Safe Routes to School safety awareness activity
booklets and materials for grade school children to area schools
and a limited number of schools state-wide.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa
authorizes the application to be submitted to the Iowa
Department of Transportation for Safe Routes to School funding,
in the amount of $55,500.00.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Traffic Operations
Department is hereby authorized to submit said application to
the Iowa Department of Transportation on behalf of the City of
Waterloo, Iowa.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of February, 2013.
