RESOLUTION NO. 2026-144
RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO A
DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT WITH IOWA HEARTLAND
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, FOR 212 OAKLAWN,
INCLUDING A DEMOLITION REIMBURSEMENT GRANT
OF UP TO $15,000.00 AND ASBESTOS ABATEMENT GRANT
OF UP TO $13,478.00, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo and Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity previously
entered into a Development Agreement relating to property located at 212 Oaklawn; and
WHEREAS, the Developer has requested, and City staff supports, an Amendment to the
Development Agreement to provide for reimbursement assistance related to demolition and
environmental remediation costs at the Property; and
WHEREAS, the Amendment provides for a demolition reimbursement grant in an
amount up to 15,000.00 and an asbestos abatement grant in an amount up to 13,478.00; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the city to approve said Amendment to the
Development Agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA,
1. The City Council hereby approves an Amendment to the Development Agreement
with Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity for the Property located at 212 Oaklawn, including a
demolition reimbursement grant of up to $15,000.00 and an asbestos abatement grant of up to
$13,478.00, in substantially the form presented to the City Council.
2. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute said document on
behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of March 2026.
