RESOLUTION NO. 2026-114
RESOLUTION APPROVING SUBMISSION OF THE IOWA
DNR'S IRA URBAN FORESTRY PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
GRANT APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $50,000.00,
FOR UPDATING WATERLOO'S TREE INVENTORY.
WHEREAS the City of Waterloo, maintains a public urban forest and related tree assets
located within City rights -of -way, parks, and other public properties; and
WHEREAS, an accurate and current tree inventory supports responsible urban forestry
planning, improves risk management, assists with maintenance prioritization, and helps preserve
and enhance the environmental and public safety benefits of the City's urban forest; and
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources offers the IRA Urban Forestry
Program Development grant program to support eligible urban forestry planning and
development activities; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to submit a grant application to the Iowa DNR requesting
funds in the amount of $50,000.00 to update Waterloo's tree inventory.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. The City Council hereby approves submission of the Iowa DNR IRA Urban Forestry
Program Development grant application in the amount of $50,000.00 for the purpose of updating
Waterloo's tree inventory.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16`" day of March 2026.
