RESOLUTION NO. 2026-116
RESOLUTION SETTING DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING AS
APRIL 6, 2026, TO APPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO THE
CITY OF WATERLOO ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 5079 TO
UPDATE TERMS AND REGULATIONS AS THEY APPLY TO
HOBBY FARMS, FARM ANIMALS, TOBACCO AND VAPE
SHOPS, AND OTHER CHANGES AND INSTRUCT THE CITY
CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo has adopted and maintains the City of Waterloo
Zoning Ordinance No. 5079, as amended; and
WHEREAS, the Waterloo Planning and Zoning Commission has amendments to the
Zoning Ordinance to update certain terms and regulations as they apply to hobby farms, farm
animals, tobacco and vape shops, and other related changes; and
WHEREAS, Iowa law and City procedure require a public hearing and publication of
notice prior to City Council action on proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. A public hearing be set for April 6, 2026, to receive public comment to consider a
proposed amendment to the City of Waterloo Zoning Ordinance No. 5079 to update terms and
regulations as they apply to hobby farms, farm animals, tobacco and vape shops, and other
changes, as more specifically set forth in the proposed ordinance amendment on file with the
City Clerk.

2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of said public hearing as required
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of March 2026.
