RESOLUTION NO. 2026-135
RESOLUTION APPROVING A FLEET TELEMATICS POLICY
FOR THE CITY OF WATERLOO EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo owns and operates a fleet of vehicles and equipment
used to provide municipal services; and
WHEREAS, the city desires to promote safe, efficient, and accountable fleet operations
and to protect City assets; and
WHEREAS, fleet telematics systems may be used to collect and report certain vehicles,
equipment, and operational data to support safety, maintenance, risk management, and
operational planning; and
WHEREAS, the city has prepared a Fleet Telematics Policy to establish expectations for
employees, define permissible use of telematics data, and provide notice regarding monitoring;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it to be in the best interest of the City to approve the
Fleet Telematics Policy for inclusion in the City of Waterloo Employee Handbook, as may be
amended from time to time pursuant to City procedures.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA,
1. The Fleet Telematics Policy, in substantially the form presented to the City Council, is
hereby approved for inclusion in the City of Waterloo Employee Handbook.
2. The Fleet Manager in coordination with the Human Resources Director is authorized to
implement and administer the Fleet Telematics Policy, including establishing related procedures,
forms, training, and system configurations consistent with the policy.
