M. , September 22nd, 1941; Adjourned Session at 10 A. M., September 26th, 1941, Special Session at 4 P. September 29th, 1941, and Special Session at 9 A. M., October 4th, 1941, were received, placed on file and approved. 16044 - On notion by Dolan, seconded by Shane the Proofs of Publication for Notice of Assessment for Oiling Project No. 3, Year 1941, were received and placed on file. Mayor Ralph B. Slippy announced that the time having arrived for making assessments for Oiling Project 1o. 3, Year 1941, the City Council would now Drocedd with the hearing of objections to the sane. The City Clerk announced there were no written objections on file. T:ayor Slippy called for oral objections. There were none. Whereupon there beino, neither written or oral objections, it was moved by Strang, seconded by Dolan that .Resolution No. 8868, making assessments fix. Oiling Project No. 1, Year 1941, be adopted. On roll call Burtner, Dolan, Joder, Shane, Strang and Turner voted Aye. Nays: None. Mayor declared the resolution adopted. 16045 - On motion by Joder, seconded by Dolan the Proof of Publication for Notice to Contractors in connections with Sidewalk Cont. No. 18, was received and placed on file. There being no bids for the nonstruction of sidewalk under Sidewalk Contract No. 18, the Mayor ordered the council to proceed with the regular order of business. SHEET NO. Knief, asking permission to erect a permanent display case to be Placed near the entrance of the Larsh-Plaee Building on the Sycamore Street side, was received, placed on file and permission granted to erect the same size display case as the one now in position in the lobby of that building. 16049 - 0n motion by Joder, seconded by Burtner the communication from D. 9. Courtney, asking for two street lights to be installed on Cornwall Street between Baltimore Street and Kimball Avenue, was received, placed on file and referred to the Water Sewer & Gas Committee. 16050 - On motion by Burtner, seconded by Joder the communication from 7. Cowin, asking permission in behalf of the Chamberlain Corporation to install a 70 ft. curb cut on Lots 10 and 11, Block 10, Logan Dale Heights, was received, placed on file and permission granted. 16051 - On motion by Joder, seconded by Strang the petition of E. Cowell, 1238 Englewood Avenue, et al, for sewer on Englewood Avenue from the alley scuth of Falls Avenue to Headford Avenue, was received, placed on file and referred to the City Engineer to prepare plat and schedule of assessments to present ot the council next spring. 16052 - On motion by Dolan, seconded by Burtner the petition of A. Y. Cheney, Receiver for the Waterloo, Cedar Falls and 17orthern Railway Company, nforming tile council of certain track changes being made by that Company, was received and placed on file. 13054 - 0n motion by Strang, seconded by Turner the Assignment of Contract and Proceeds :lade by F. L. Hargrave in connection with Paving Cohtract No. 37, to The National Dank of Waterloo, was received and placed on file. 16055 - On motion by Strang, seconded by Joder the Petition of Glenn C. Ida Reardon, asking that their names be withdrawn frem a petition for sidewalk on the sout'eeast side of itry Street between Avalon Avenue and Westfield Avenue, was received and placed on file. 16056 - Moved byShane, seconded by Joder that the Street Commissioner be instructed to order repairs to the sidewalk on The south side of Vine Street between Y. Barclay Street and the Entrance to East High School Stadium, and, that if possible the pole located at the entrance to tl,e stadium be removed. Cool, asking for the cancellation of certain delinquent poll tax assessments, be received,,A_aced on file and that Resolution Mo. 8869, authorizing the City Clerk to cancel said delinquent politax assessments and to certify a copy of said resolution to the County Auditor of Black Hawk County, be adopted. Lang relative to the .purchase of certain property near the Eighteenth Street Tiriage, was received and placed on file. 16066 Moved by Strang, seconded by Joder that the proposal of the Construction Machinery Comoany to give to the City a lift station located at Beech & Glenwood Streets, providing the City assumes future maintnance and operation costs, be received, Placed on file and offer accepted.
