RESOLUTION NO. 2026-252
RESOLUTION APPROVING A VARIANCE TO SECTION 582
OF THE TRAFFIC CODE TO LIFT THE TRUCK EMBARGO
ON E. DONALD STREET FROM LOGAN AVENUE TO THE
EAST CITY LIMITS, FROM MAY 25, 2026, UNTIL
SEPTEMBER 7, 2026, FOR THE COOPERATIVE PROJECT
WITH BLACK HAWK COUNTY FOR THE ASPHALT
OVERLAY OF E. DONALD STREET.
WHEREAS, Section 582 of the Traffic Code imposes a truck embargo on certain
designated streets within the City of Waterloo, and
WHEREAS, a cooperative project with Black Hawk County is being undertaken for the
asphalt overlay of E. Donald Street, and
WHEREAS, in order to facilitate said project, it is necessary to temporarily lift the truck
embargo on E. Donald Street from Logan Avenue to the east city limits from May 25, 2026,
through September 7, 2026, and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that granting a variance to Section 582 of the Traffic
Code for said period and purpose is in the best interests of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. A variance to Section 582 of the Traffic Code is hereby approved to lift the truck
embargo on E. Donald Street from Logan Avenue to the east city limits for the period beginning
May 25, 2026, and ending September 7, 2026.
2. Said variance is approved solely for the purpose of accommodating the cooperative
project with Black Hawk County for the asphalt overlay of E. Donald Street.
