I was able to speak with the Black Hawk County Health Department, and they were able to sign off on
your application.
The Building Inspector, Brad Baldwin, who performed your commercial fire inspection on 4/21/2026,
informed me that you did not pass your initial inspection due to various deficiencies. I have included a
copy of your inspection from that date. Brad indicated that if you call him,(319-230-1224), he is willing to
schedule a reinspection for today if you have made the required corrections. I also spoke with the City
Clerk to inform her of the situation. Kelley wanted to let you know we will do everything in our control to
help you obtain your liquor license.
At the time we spoke regarding being "timely filed" I did not realize you applied for a "brand new" license
with the ABD as opposed to "renewing" your license. The license that was cancelled today is the license
you have held for numerous years. Your new license application is still pending local authority approval
so you will not need to refile with the ABD. The ABD associate told me when accessing your account to
renew there are two buttons. One to Renew and one to apply for a New application. I'm not sure of the
circumstances, but apparently you applied for a new application.
As this is a "new" applications (pending approvals) and your existing license has been cancelled, you do
not have a license to sell alcohol.
If you are able pass your fire inspection we are having a Special Council meeting on June 2, 2026, where
your application can be placed on the agenda for the Council approval.
