RESOLUTION NO. 2026-296
RESOLUTION APPROVING AWARD OF HOTEL/MOTEL
TAX COUNCIL DISCRETIONARY FUNDS TO THE
AMERICANS FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING, IN THE
AMOUNT OF $20,000.00, FOR THE FIELD OF HONOR
PROJECT, COMMEMORATING AMERICA'S 250TH
ANNIVERSARY AND HONORING VETERANS, ACTIVE
MILITARY PERSONNEL, AND THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED
OUR NATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo receives hotel/motel tax revenues and has established
Hotel/Motel Tax Council Discretionary Funds for eligible projects and activities; and
WHEREAS, Americans for Independent Living has requested an award of Hotel/Motel
Tax Council Discretionary Funds in the amount of $20,000.00 for the Field of Honor Project;
and
WHEREAS, the Field of Honor Project is intended to commemorate America's 250th
Anniversary and honor veterans, active military personnel, and others who have served our
nation; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the request and finds that awarding funds for
this project serves a valid public purpose and is an appropriate use of Hotel/Motel Tax Council
Discretionary Funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. The City Council hereby approves the award of Hotel/Motel Tax Council
Discretionary Funds to Americans for Independent Living in the amount of $20,000.00, for the
Field of Honor Project.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1st day of June 2026.
