711erCI, kt is deemed advisable for the purpose of
increasing the efficiency of the police department to
abolish the off4es in said department now known as city
detectives , and to permit the Chief of Police to delegate from
time to time officers from the department to act in the
capacity of plain clothes men, now, therefore ,
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of
7,-„lteTloo , Iowa , That the offices known as City detectives be ,
and the same are hereby, abolished. Be it further
Resolved , that the chief of police be , and he is
1-e'reby, directed to detail the present city detectives to
perform such other work in the department as he may deem
-best. Be it further
Resolved , that the total number of police officers ,
of every character, be placed at not to exceed thirty.
