HomeMy WebLinkAbout5498-10.22.1923 RESOLUTION NO. 5498 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING WORK --CONTRACT 13.4 Whereas on the 27th day of March, 1923, the Bryant Paving Company entered into a contract with the City of Waterloo, Iowa, for the construction of street improvements by resurfacing the old brick pavement with sheet asphalt , on Water Street from the northwest line. of Fifth Street to the southeast line of Fourth Street , also from the northwest line of Fourth Street to the southeast line of Park Avenue, which contract was c_uly approved by the Council on the 27th day of March, 19231 and Whereas said Contract of Idarch 27th, 1923 was modified. by an amendment and agreement entered into on. the 14th day of July, 1923, by the said :3ryant raving Company and the City of Waterloo parties to said agreement , providing for the construction of a new base and paving on Water Street from the northwest line of Fifth Street to the southeast line of Fourth Street , also from the northwest line of Fourth Street to the southeast line of Park Avenue , instead of re- surfacing the old brick with asphalt , a.:d.. Toereas, the City engineer has filed with the City Clerk on the 20th day of October, 1923, a report certifying that the Bryant Paving Company has fully completed the construction of said improve- ments in accordance with the plans and specifications and contract therefore: Now Therefor, Be It Resolved by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, that the report of the City Engineer be and the same is hereby approved and adopted; that the improvement above de- scribed was constructed under and by virtue of said contract and plans and specifications, for the same; and that the total cost of said improvement is hereby determined to be 44,754.57 as shown in said Engineer' s Report. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVM BY SAID CITY COUNCIL that said Engineer is . hereby instructed and directed to prepare a .plat and schedule of the property benefited by said improvement showing the separate lots and parcels of ground, or parts thereof, subject to assessment for the 0°14 . 2 cost and expenses of the construction of said improvement together with the names of the owners thereof as far as practicable, and the amount assessable by law and the resolutions of this Council against each lot or parcel of ground abutting on or adjacent to said improve- ment and against any railway or street railway whose tracks, station grounds or right of way are located thereon, abut thereon or are adjacent thereto, which plat and schedule when completed whall be filed in the office of the City Clerk, said adjacent property to be and include the .property half the distance to the next street but not exceeding three hundred feet from the improvement.
