Exit signs shall be illuminated at all times. To ensure continued illumination for a duration of not less than 90 minutes in case of primary power loss,the sign illumination means shall be connected to an emergency power system provided from storage batteries, unit equipment or an on-site generator.The installation of the emergency power system shall be in accordance with Section 604. *Exit Signs were found to be out when tested,exit signs include sign by room 603,sign by room 308,sign by room 208 *Corrective action, repair/replace signs Ref# CODE Violation &Location Corrected • 2 2015 IFC Means of Egress Section 1008 Means of Egress Illumination 1008.2 Illumination required.The means of egress serving a room or space shall be illuminated at all times that the room or space is occupied. *Egress lights were found to be out when tested, lights include light by room 608, light by room 302 *Corrective action, repair/replace lights 3 2015 IFC Fire Protection Systems Section 901 General 901.6 Inspection,testing and maintenance. Fire detection,alarm, and extinguishing systems, mechanical smoke exhaust systems, and smoke and heat vents shall be maintained in an operative condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where defective. Nonrequired fire protection systems and equipment shall be inspected,tested and maintained or removed. *Multiple sprinkler head deflectors were found throughout the building with an excessive build-up of lint&dust on them *Contact your fire sprinkler contractor and determine the best way to clean the deflector heads 4 2015 IFC Fire and Smoke Protection Features Section 703 Fire- Resistance-Rated Construction 703.2.3 Door operation. Swinging fire doors shall close from the full-open position and latch automatically.The door closer shall exert enough force to close and latch the door from any partially open position. *Door in stairway on 6th floor was stuck and would not open initially,then had problems closing fully *Corrective action, repair/adjust door so that it operates correctly Ref# CODE Violation&Location Corrected 5 2015 IFC Fire and Smoke Protection Features Section 703 Fire- Resistance-Rated Construction 703.2 Opening protectives. Opening protectives shall be maintained in an operative condition in accordance with NFPA 80. Where allowed by the fire code official,the application of field- applied labels associated with the maintenance of opening protectives shall follow the requirements of the approved third- party certification organization accredited for listing the opening protective. Fire doors and smoke barrier doors shall not be blocked or obstructed,or otherwise made inoperable. Fusible links shall be replaced promptly whenever fused or damaged. Fire door assemblies shall not be modified. 2015 IFC Fire and Smoke Protection Features Section 703 Fire- Resistance-Rated Construction 703.2.2 Hold-open devices and closers. Hold-open devices and automatic door closers,where provided,shall be maintained. During the period that such device is out of service for repairs,the door it operates shall remain in the closed position. 2013 NFPA 80.A.4.2.1 Labels can be permitted to be of metal, paper,or plastic or can be permitted to be stamped or diecast into the item. Labels should not be removed,defaced,or made illegible while the door is in service. If the label on an existing fire door has been removed or is no longer legible, it is acceptable to verify the rating of the fire door through other means acceptable to the AHJ such as an inspection or certification service that provides acceptable documentation. *Multiple rated fire doors in the building had their rating tags painted over.These tags are not to be altered or removed. *Multiple rated fire doors had unapproved hold-open devices on the bottom of the doors keeping the doors in an open position *Corrective action, remove all unapproved hold-open devices from all rated fire doors in the building and ensure that all tags on fire rated doors are present and legible. If tags are missing and/or are not legible,the rated fire doors shall be certified/inspected by a third party to be confirmed that they meet rating requirements. Ref# CODE Violation&Location Corrected 6 2015 IFC Building Services and Systems Section 605 Electrical Equipment,Wiring and Hazards 605.3 Working space and clearance.A working space of not less than 30 inches in width, 36 inches in depth and 78 inches in height shall be provided in front of electrical service equipment.Where the electrical service equipment is wider than 30 inches,the working space shall be not less than the width of the equipment. Storage of materials shall not be located within the designated working space. 2015 IFC Building Services and Systems Section 605 Electrical Equipment,Wiring and Hazards 605.3.1 Labeling.
