1 2015 IFC General Requirements Section 315 General Storage
315.3.1 Ceiling clearance. Storage shall be maintained 2 feet or
more below the ceiling in nonsprinklered areas of buildings or not
less than 18 inches below sprinkler head deflectors in sprinklered
areas of buildings.

605.5 Extension cords. Extension cords and flexible cords shall not
be a substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible
cords shall not be affixed to structures, extended through walls,
ceilings or floors, or under doors or floor coverings, nor shall such
cords be subject to environmental damage or physical impact.
Extension cords shall be used only with portable appliances.

Resistance-Rated Construction
703.2.3 Door operation. Swinging fire doors shall close from the
full-open position and latch automatically.The door closer shall
exert enough force to close and latch the door from any partially
open position.
*Numerous doors to rooms were found to not self close and latch
properly

901.4.6 Pump riser room size. Where provided,fire pump and
automatic sprinkler system riser rooms shall be designed with
adequate space for all equipment necessary for the installation, as
defined by the manufacturer,with sufficient working space around
the stationary equipment. Clearances around equipment to
elements of permanent construction, including other installed
equipment and appliances, shall be sufficient to allow inspection,
service, repair or replacement without removing such elements of
permanent construction or disabling the function of a required fire-
resistance-rated assembly. Fire pump and automatic sprinkler
system riser rooms shall be provided with a door(s)and an
unobstructed passageway large enough to allow removal of the
largest piece of equipment.
*Items were being stored in the Sprinkler Riser space

area, ensure that this area is kept clear at all times

901.6 Inspection, testing and maintenance. Fire detection,alarm,
and extinguishing systems, mechanical smoke exhaust systems,
and smoke and heat vents shall be maintained in an operative
condition at all times, and shall be replaced or repaired where
defective. Nonrequired fire protection systems and equipment shall
be inspected,tested and maintained or removed.

901.4 Installation. Fire protection systems shall be maintained in
accordance with the original installation standards for that system.
Required systems shall be extended, altered or augmented as
necessary to maintain and continue protection where the building is
altered, remodeled or added to.Alterations to fire protection
systems shall be done in accordance with applicable standards.
*Rooms were found to be under construction at the time of
inspection, please ensure that all Fire and Life Safety Systems are
being maintained as initially installed

*Ceiling tiles are missing from the maintenance storage unit.The
ceiling is part of the Sprinkler System, missing ceiling tiles may
allow smoke and fire to bypass the sprinkler deflector heads and
rendering the sprinkler system ineffective.

8 2015 IFC Means of Egress Section 1008 Means of Egress

1008.2 Illumination required.The means of egress serving a room
or space shall be illuminated at all times that the room or space is
occupied.

To ensure continued illumination for a duration of not less than 90
minutes in case of primary power loss,the sign illumination means
shall be connected to an emergency power system provided from
storage batteries, unit equipment or an on-site generator. The
installation of the emergency power system shall be in accordance
with Section 604.
