RESOLUTION NO. 2026-462
RESOLUTION TO APPROVE SUPPORT OF AN AGREEMENT
TO OBTAIN FUNDING THROUGH THE IOWA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S REVITALIZE
IOWA'S SOUND ECONOMY (R.I.S.E.) PROGRAM FOR A
NEW ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROJECT OFF OF W. BIG
ROCK ROAD, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY
CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the State of Iowa has developed a program of funding, administered
through the Iowa Department of Transportation entitled "Revitalize Iowa's Sound Economy"
(R.I.S.E.); and
WHEREAS, said program assists cities in the development of appropriate transportation
systems to attract and retain business and industry, creating job opportunities for the citizens of
those communities and improving the overall economic character of the area; and
WHEREAS, there is demand from businesses for parcels in Waterloo with adequate
transportation access; and
WHEREAS, the Road Construction Project as proposed by the City of Waterloo
will provide access to 64.83 acres of property that will be developed into offices, distribution,
and warehousing uses; and
WHEREAS, the future economic growth should create new jobs for Iowans and long
term investments for businesses.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. the Authority approves the Agreement with the City of Waterloo to facilitate the
application to the Iowa DOT for R.I.S.E. funding which will partially finance the Road
Construction Project.
