TO THE BIDDING DOCUMENTS FOR
FY 2010 RIVER RENAISSANCE LOWER PLAZA

TO ALL BIDDERS ON THE ABOVE PROJECT
All Bidders submitting a bid on the above contract shall carefully read this Addendim and give it
consideration in the preparation of their bid.
I. The following changes shall be made to the Contract Documents:
A. The following note shall be added to Sheet C-1.11: "Contractor shall be required
to obtain all necessary building permits from the City of Waterloo Building
Department. All costs for permits shall be considered incidental to other work."
B. The following note shall be added to Sheet C-1.11: "Contractor shall use extreme
care in placement of all elements for this project. Special care shall be taken in
locating and placement of elements located in paved areas, such as In-Pavement
Lights, Wall Lights, Area Light Poles and Bollards. These elements shall be
required to be placed to the plan location +/- 0.50 inches."
C. Special Provisions, Paragraph 5 shall be modified as follows "The prime
contractor shall be required to perform at least 25 percent of the total contract
amount of the project."
D. Estimate Reference Note 37, Sheet C-1.8 refers to Sheet C-1.4. This shall be
modified to refer to Sheet C-1.5,
E. Estimate Reference Note 127, Sheet C-1.10 shall be modified as follows: Delete
phrase "lights along cable guardrail at rivers edge" and replace with "In-Pavement
Lights"
F. Estimate Reference Note 131, Sheet C-1.10 shall be modified as follows: Delete
phrase 117 Gardco Model 1235-RD C 4LED 120/12 CS" and replace with 117
Lumiere Model 1235-RD C 4LED 120/12 CS".
G. Sheet A3.11, Section 4 shall be modified as follows: Delete note 1/2" DIA
STAINLESS STEEL PIN @ 16" O.C. — 3 EA PIECE" and replace with 1/2" DIA
STAINLESS STEEL PIN —2 EACH PIECE".
H. Sheet A1.02, Detail 2.3 and 2.4. Clarification. Stone seat and wall units can be
cut and split straight as indicated and are not required to be curved at any face.
However, where the sides of the seat units abut an adjacent unit, the cut shall be
made at a consistent angle so that the joint between the units remains at a
constant width as shown on detail 2.3, Sheet A1.02.
I. Sheet C-5.5. Design of Retaining Wall shall be modified in the field at the time of
construction between Stations 5720+10 and 5720+30 to avoid conflicts with
existing electrical transformer located adjacent to building. Utility relocation work
in this area is not anticipated. Cost for removal and replacement of existing wood
fence enclosure will be required and shall be considered incidental to other work.
J. Specification Section 2723, Part 2.01.A"3. Supplied by the Waterloo Water Works"
shall be deleted and replaced with "3. Supplied by Contractor"
K. Sheet C-4.4. Plan Note 21, change 4"coupling to 6" coupling.
L. Sheet C-4.5. Delete Gatewell Note 9.
M. Specification Section 07 21 00, Paragraph 3.05 "Batt insulation in wall
construction" shall be deleted and replaced with "Batt insulation in wall and ceiling
construction". Add Paragraph 3.05 H to read "Install vapor retarder on wall and
ceiling construction."
N. Specification Section 07 53 00 Clarification: Roofing membrane shall be adhered
directly to roof deck. Coverboard, insulation, separate vapor barrier and related
accessories shall be eliminated from the roofing section.
O. Specification Section 07 53 00. Delete the following paragraphs:
a. 1.01 B
b. 1.03 B
c. 2.03 D
d. 2.03 E
e. 2.03 F
f. 2.04 D
P. Jointing: Joints in 2' gray bands along 10' wide recreational trail shall be hand
tooled as shown in the following detail.

Q. The following note shall be added to Sheet C-3.8: "Pavement reinforcement will not
be measured for payment, but shall be considered incidental to the pavement item
for which it is used."
R. The following note shall be added to Sheet E-1.7, detail 10-993 'For Pole Size
Criteria, add EPA Wind Load Area of 26.25 Square Feet for future stage lighting as
shown on detail."
S. Sheet E-1.4 shall be modified as follows: Remove Panel LP4, Transformer T4 and
associated disconnect switch from Electrical Control Building. These items are
correctly located in Mechanical Control Building as shown on Sheet E-1.4.
T. Add dimmer system for light fixtures RL-1 through RL-64 and PL-1 through PL-26
as follows:
• Provide Hunt Dimmer System Control Panel # SSD-12/20-010. Unit shall be
capable of accepting DMX -12 inputs in addition to dry contacts, analog inputs,
dry contact outputs.
• Provide 1 Hunt # SCP-10 control station. Locate adjacent to Dimmer Control
Panel. Provide Belden #9729 cable in % inch conduit between Control station
and Dimmer Control Panel.
• Provide 1 Tork# DT-200 Time Clock. Install adjacent to Dimmer Control Panel.
Provide 1 120V 1 ph, 20Amp circuit from panel LP2. Connect to Dimmer
Control Panel to provide on-off and timed control of lighting circuits.
• Provide 1-120/208V, 3ph, 4w, 20A circuit to dimmer control panel from panel
LP2. Provide 1- 20amp, 3 pole c/b.
• Mount dimmer control panel on East wall of electrical building adjacent to door.
• RL fixtures — add 1 dimmer control module for each driver located in each of
seven boxes. Connect into circuit between the driver and LED fixtures per
manufacturers recommendations.
• Provide 1 — 1 inch PVC conduit from each of seven boxes to the Dimmer
Control Panel in the Electrical Control Building for dimmer module control
wiring.
• Provide 1 #16 AWG Twisted Shielded Pair cable with PVC jacket from each
dimmer module to the Dimmer Control Panel in the Electrical Control Building.
• Use Dimmer Control Module provided by LED fixture manufacturer.
• PL fixtures — add 1 dimmer control module for each driver located in each of
two boxes. Connect into circuit between the driver and LED fixtures per
manufacturers recommendations.
• Provide 1 — 1 inch PVC conduit from each of two boxes to the Dimmer Control
Panel in the Electrical Control Building for dimmer module control wiring.
• Provide 1 #16 AWG Twisted Shielded Pair cable with PVC jacket from each
dimmer control module to the Dimmer Control Panel in the Electrical Control
Building.
• Use Dimmer Control Module provided by LED fixture manufacturer.
• For RL fixtures and PL fixtures 120V circuit homeruns - delete the notes "to
LP2" and replace with "to Dimmer Control Panel". The 120v circuit homeruns
for the LED lighting power will come from the Dimmer Control Panel in the
Electrical Control Building. Delete 6 - 20amp single pole circuit breakers in
Panel LP2. Four 20amp single pole breakers will be spare.

U. Modify Sheets E-1.1 and E-1.2 as follows: Provide one additional 2-inch PVC
conduit from Electrical Control Room to Area Lights PL-1 and PL-2 for future stage
lighting circuits.
V. Sheet E-1.7 shall be modified as follows: "For Pole Types PL-1, PL-2, PL-3 and
PL-4 two additional light fixtures (ABS Lighting Model 5700 AFM, 150 Waft MH)
shall be added to each pole, for a total of 12 light fixtures per pole."
W. Sheet C-4.1 shall be modified as follows: Existing curb line and adjacent
pavement located approximately 9' from the proposed sanitary line may be
removed and replaced at contract prices to avoid use of temporary shoring to
construct sewer. Contractor shall stage his work to minimize impact to the parking
for US Bank property. Lights shown as `do not disturb' shall be removed and paid
for as shown on Sheet C-2.2. Existing electrical manhole shown at approximate
station 1+40 will require temporary support or other construction methods to avoid
conflict.
X. Bid Item #114. Quantity shall be changed to 3.0 EACH.
Replace Sheet BF-8 (attached)with Revised Sheet BF-8 in Bid Form.
Y. Bid Item #123. Quantity shall be changed to 524.0 EACH.
Replace Sheet BF-9 (attached)with Revised Sheet BF-9 in Bid Form.
II. Any revisions to any of the Contract Documents made by this Addendum shall be
considered as the same revision to any and all related areas of the Contract Documents
not specifically called out in this Addendum.
III. The bidder shall acknowledge receipt of this Addendum b inserting the date and number
