RESOLUTION SETTING DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR
AUGUST 17, 2026, TO APPROVE A REQUEST BY THE CITY
OF WATERLOO TO REZONE APPROXIMATELY 10.67
ACRES FROM "C-1" NEIGHBORHOOD COMMERCIAL
DISTRICT AND "A-1" AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT TO "R-
3,R-P" PLANNED MULTIPLE RESIDENCE DISTRICT FOR
THE DEVELOPMENT OF FOURTEEN LOTS OF SINGLE-
FAMILY HOMES AND TOWN HOMES LOCATED ALONG
W. 3RD STREET AND NORTON STREET WEST OF
SERGEANT ROAD, AND INSTRUCT THE CITY CLERK TO
PUBLISH NOTICE.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo has requested the rezoning of approximately 10.67
acres of property located along W. 3rd Street and Norton Street, west of Sergeant Road; and
WHEREAS, the requested rezoning would change the zoning classification of the
property from "C-1" Neighborhood Commercial District and "A-1" Agricultural District to "R-
3,R-P" Planned Multiple Residence District; and
WHEREAS, the requested rezoning is intended to facilitate the development of fourteen
lots for single-family homes and town homes; and
WHEREAS, prior to consideration of the proposed zoning map amendment, the City
Council must hold a public hearing after notice has been published as required by law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. A public hearing be set for August 17, 2026, to approve a request to rezone
approximately 10.67 acres from "C-1" Neighborhood Commercial District and "A-1"
Agricultural District to "R-3,R-P" Planned Multiple Residence District for the development of
fourteen lots of single-family homes and town homes located along W. 3rd Street and Norton
Street west of Sergeant Road.
2. The City Clerk is directed to publish notice of said public hearing as required by law.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of August 2026.
