RESOLUTION NO. 2026-411
RESOLUTION APPROVING SUBMISSION OF A SECOND
IOWA DNR IRA URBAN FORESTRY PROGRAM
DEVELOPMENT GRANT APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT
OF $50,000.00, FOR UPDATING THE CITY OF WATERLOO'S
TREE INVENTORY, AND AUTHORIZING THE LEISURE
SERVICES DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa, recognizes the importance of maintaining an
accurate and current inventory of public trees to support effective urban forestry planning,
management, maintenance, risk assessment, and replacement activities; and
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources offers funding through the
Inflation Reduction Act Urban Forestry Program Development Grant Program; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to submit a second grant application to the Iowa Department
of Natural Resources, in an amount not to exceed $50,000.00 for funding to update the City of
Waterloo's tree inventory.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. Submission of a second Iowa Department of Natural Resources IRA Urban Forestry
Program Development Grant application in an amount not to $50,000.00, for the purpose of
updating the City of Waterloo's tree inventory, is hereby approved.
2. The Leisure Services Director is authorized and directed to execute said document on
behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
