RESOLUTION NO. 2026-421
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE AWARD OF BID TO REW
SERVICES CORPORATION OF DES MOINES, IOWA, IN THE
AMOUNT OF $2,004,261.00, APPROVING THE CONTRACT,
BOND, AND CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE, IN
CONJUNCTION WITH ASBESTOS ABATEMENT SERVICES,
CONTRACT AB-2026-06-01P (1442 SYCAMORE STREET,
FORMER RATH BUILDINGS), AND AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID
DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa, has solicited bids for Asbestos Abatement
Services, Contract AB-2026-06-01P, for the property located at 1442 Sycamore Street,
commonly known as the former Rath buildings; and
WHEREAS, REW Services Corporation of Des Moines, Iowa, submitted the lowest
responsible bid for the project in the amount of $2,004,261.00; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that acceptance of the bid and award of the contract
to REW Services Corporation are in the best interests of the City of Waterloo.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. The bid submitted by REW Services Corporation of Des Moines, Iowa, for Asbestos
Abatement Services, Contract AB-2026-06-01P, for 1442 Sycamore Street, former Rath
buildings, in the amount of $2,004,261.00, is hereby accepted, and the contract is awarded to
REW Services Corporation.
2. The contract, bond, and certificate of insurance submitted in connection with Contract
AB-2026-06-01P are hereby approved.
3. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute said document on
behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of August 2026.
