RESOLUTION NO. 2026-422
RESOLUTION APPROVING EXPERIENCE WATERLOO
BOARD RECOMMENDATION FOR FUNDING FY2027
QUARTERS 1 AND 2 HOTEL -MOTEL TAX GRANT.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo collects hotel -motel tax revenues in accordance with
Iowa law; and
WHEREAS, the City has established a Hotel -Motel Tax Grant Program to support
activities, events, and initiatives that promote tourism and economic activity within the City of
Waterloo; and
WHEREAS, the Experience Waterloo Board has reviewed applications for Fiscal Year
2027, Quarters 1 and 2 Hotel -Motel Tax Grant funding and has submitted its funding
recommendations to the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the Experience Waterloo Board's
recommendations of 5 Partner Grant applications for Fiscal Year 2027 QI/Q2, and has
recommended funding all 5 applications, resulting in a total recommended funding amount of
$90,000.00, and finds that approving the recommended allocations serves the public purpose of
promoting tourism and visitor -related activities in the City of Waterloo as follows:
Partner Grants - Grout Museum District $25,000.00
Waterloo Center for the Arts $25,000.00
Mainstreet $25,000.00
Cedar Valley Arboretyum & Botanic Gardens $10,000.00
Dan Gable Museum $5,000.00
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. Experience Waterloo Board recommendations for Fiscal Year 2027, Quarters 1 and 2
Hotel -Motel Tax Grant funding, as set forth above, are hereby approved.
