NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED PLANS SPECIFICATIONS,
FORM OF CONTRACT, AND ESTIMATED TOTAL COST OF THE PUBLIC
IMPROVEMENT FOR THE 5 SULLIVAN BROTHERS CONVENTION CENTER
LINTEL REPAIR FOR THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA.
Notice is hereby given that the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa, will meet at the City Hall Building
in said City on the 14th day of October, 2019 at 5:30 p.m., at which time and place a hearing will
be held on the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and estimated of cost, $60,000 for
the construction of the 5 Sullivan Brothers Convention Center Lintel Repair For The City of
Waterloo, Iowa in and for said City. If approved, consideration of such bids for the construction of
the aforesaid project will be made following the hearing. Any interested person may appear at
said hearing and file objections to the proposed plans, specifications, form of contract, and
estimated costs for said improvements. It is anticipated that bids will be received for aforesaid
improvements on the 31st day of October, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.
Project Scope: Selective demolition, lintel repair, and related Work indicated in the drawings and
specifications.
A more detailed description of the kinds and approximate quantities of materials and types of
construction for which bids will be received are set forth in the Bidding Documents prepared by
ISG, of Mankato, Minnesota which together with the proposed form of contract, have heretofore
been approved by the City Council, and are now on file for public examination in the office of the
City Clerk, and are by this reference made part hereof as though fully set out and incorporated
herein.
The Architect/Engineer has prepared plans and specifications governing the construction of the
proposed improvements. These plans and specifications, and the proceedings of the City
referring to and defining said improvements, are hereby made a part of this Notice and the
proposed contract by reference, and the proposed contract shall be executed to comply
therewith.

It will take one day once I email it to them, then they post it.
When I receive the confirmations from MBI I will email them to you for your records.
Also, be sure to post it on the City's website, so all 3 requirements are met.

Please find attached sample advertising forms for your use in publishing/posting these notices. Please review and make any changes
necessary,then publish/post them according to the Iowa Code.
These are based on notices that have been used by clients on other similar projects.
Since these are legal documents, please look them over for complete compliance with current applicable laws governing such
publications. We suggest you consult with your attorney about these documents.
The information below is taken from the Iowa Code 2016, Chapter 73A.2 - Public Contracts and Bonds and Chapter 26.3 — Public
Construction Bidding as amended H.F. 830.
The Notice of Public Hearing announcing a public hearing is required to be published one time in a newspaper (published at least
weekly) in general circulation in the District in which the project is located not less than 4 days and not more than 20 days prior to
the hearing date.

The Notice of Public Letting effective July 1, 2016, publication of a Notice of Public Letting in a newspaper of general circulation
will no longer satisfy Iowa law. As of July 1, 2016, governmental entities must "post" their Notice of Public Letting not less than
thirteen(13)and not more than forty-five(45)days before the deadline for submission of bids in/on all three of the following:
1.* in a relevant contractor plan room service with statewide circulation,and
2.* in a relevant construction lead generating service with statewide circulation,and
(email Notice of Public Letting to Master Builders of Iowa (MBI) mbiplanroom-dsm@mbionline.com, this will satisfy
requirements I & 2. Person who originated email to MBI will receive an email copy back of the Notice of Public Letting as
confirmation it was posted statewide)
3. either on an Internet site sponsored by the governmental entity or a statewide association that represents the governmental
entity.
(i.e.Your own website, Iowa Association of School Boards,etc.)
