Re: Five Sullivan Convention Center Meeting Rooms 10 thru 13.
Request change order#1.
The scope of our original proposal of these rooms was to recover acoustical panels with a
new fabric and paint three air wall dividing partitions.When I looked at the rooms for the
estimate the panels were all attached, but later when told to proceed with the work,one of
the panels had been removed. This showed that these panels were not attached with clips as
normally are; but instead were glued, nailed, and screwed. I could also see that the wall
was in poor shape. At this point is when I contacted you to let you know that I didn't think
it possible to remove panels without breaking some of them and to reinstall on the
deteriorated walls. It was decided to remove these panels,dispose of them, repair the wall
and hang the acoustical wallcovering to existing walls. Once the panels were removed we
could see one wall was bare unstruck 8 inch concrete block and the other two were base
coat plaster. It was a big mess.
This is what had to be done and the cost:
Additional removal and disposal cost of old acoustical panels--$367.21
Grind mortar joints & sheetrock north wall--$1,630.36
Skim coat entire west and south wall over base coat plaster--$936.80
Remove sound booth window and frame shut- -$361.60
Additional acoustical wallcovering- - $340.00
Additional labor cost for installing wallcovering--$344.00
Originally,we were going to remove paint from holes in air wall dividing doors,but instead
it was decided to fill remaining holes and paint the doors. Once the doors were opened it
was discovered the pockets they are stored in and the structural supports were broken.We
were asked to repair these items.
This is the cost of the repair:
Pocket wall and structural stud repair- -$462.40
Filling& priming wall divider doors -- $1,381.00
Painted east wall and hollow metal doors and frames on inside,plus the doors and frames
on the lobby side of the meeting rooms - - $1,313.64
The acoustical wallcovering was selected using a carpet sample, after receiving the material
a different carpet was selected, consequently,the wallcovering didn't match.It had to be
returned for a stocking charge of$378.75.
Total cost for the above changes is $7,515.76.
