RE: Approval of Specifications—Hangar Roof Replacement
We are requesting approval of the enclosed specifications, advertising, and the date of
public hearing/bid opening for the roof replacement of the McCandles maintenance
hangar and door seals for other hangars. This project is part of our Iowa Department of
Transportation (IDOT) Vertical Infrastructure grant, which Council approved on
September 27, 2004.
The Airport owns and is responsible for the structural maintenance on these hangars. The
McCandles hangar roof is the original roof which is over 35 years old and in need of
replacement. The seals for the T-hangars are 25 years old and are cracked and
deteriorated.
The estimated cost of this project is $65K. We have $48K available in this years grant.
It is our intent to complete as much of the project as possible under the grant this year and
finish the remainder in the future. We have broken the bid proposal down into sections
giving us the option to complete partial work. This project will be funded 100% from the
IDOT grant.
In addition to approving the specifications and advertising, we would like to set the date
of hearing and bid opening for April 18, 2005.

Tentative Schedule:
April 4th - City Council to set date of hearing and advertise for bids.
April 9th - Legal advertisement in newspaper
April 18th- Conduct Hearing and Receive and open bids at City Council meeting.
April 20th-Present bids to Airport Board for approval to award.
April 25th- City Council to Award Contract.
