SCHMITT
Ward 1
Honorable Mayor Hurley and Council Members:
CAROLYN
COLE On October 17, 2005, bids were opened for the Riverfront Development
W`"`' Project Asbestos Removal, Contract No. 123-AR--10-17-05- EDA, Project
BUCK Award No. 05-01-03718, with Advanced Technologies Inc., of Waterloo, Iowa,
CLARK as the apparent low bidder.
Ward 3
JOHN A. After review of the bid, it is being recommended that the award of the contract be
KINCAID made to the lowest responsible bidder, Advanced Technologies, Inc., of
Ward 4 Waterloo, Iowa, in the amount of $12,360.00, plus $600.00 per day for an on-site
RON professional to assist in wetting and disposal duties during demolition of 103-107
WELPER E. 7th Street. Staff estimates no more than two (2) days for completion of
Ward 5 demolition at this site, accordingly, this alternative is more cost effective than
undertaking complete removal of asbestos before demolition at costs of
BOB
GREENWOOD $11 ,500.00.

Additionally, staff recommends that the Mayor and Council authorize the
ERIC execution of the contract.
