RE: CITY HALL SCIIMIVI , CARNEGIE ANNEX, POLICE TRAINING CENTER Ward 1 AND WATERLOO MUNICIPAL AIRPORT JANITORIAL SERVICES CAROLYN COL.E Bids were opened for the cleaning services of major facilities in the City of Waterloo Ward on June 27, 2005. I have enclosed the bid tabulation for your review. BUCK CLARK As you are aware, the present cleaning contract is with Cue's Janitorial Service. Ward 3 Because of the ending of their contract and the condition of the buildings, it was (OHN A. determined in March of this year that the cleaning of the above-referenced buildings KINCAID would be re-bid. Ward 4 In February of this year, Marve Cue (the owner of Cue's Janitorial Service) died. RON WEEPER Marsden Building Maintenance Co., Inc. of Des Moines subsequently purchased the WEEPER Wad:., business. BOB Significant improvements have been made under the new ownership. Checks and GREENWOOD balances have been put into the contract to ensure the continued high level of nI-!ante cleaning. ERIC GUNDERSON Marsden of Des Moines was the low bid for the cleaning contract. Therefore, I At-L.a,;te recommend the cleaning contract for City Hall, Carnegie Annex and Police Training Center be awarded to Marsden Building Maintenance Co., Inc. for three (3) years-- as outlined in the contract--for a cost of$46,380.00 per year. This will result in a $3,144.00 savings over the three- (3) year period. I'm recommending also that the monthly contract for the airport be awarded to Marsden of Des Moines for $2,361.00 per month. This will result in $507.36 savings per month—or $6,088.00 per year. Contracts and insurance will be submitted for the Mayor's signature at the next Council meeting.
