RESOLUTION NO. 2006-758 RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONTRACT TO LEHMAN TRUCKING & EXCAVATING OF WATERLOO, IOWA, FOR DEMOLITION OF HOMES AT 2554 EDGEMONT AVENUE, 738 MOBILE STREET, AND 407-409 PINE STREET, CONTRACT NO. 144-D-GO-08-18-06, IN THE AMOUNT OF $33, 865 . 00, APPROVING SAID CONTRACT AND DIRECTING EXECUTION OF SAID CONTRACT BY MAYOR. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA: That the bid of Lehman Trucking & Excavating of Waterloo, Iowa, in the amount of $33, 865 . 00, for the Demolition of Homes at 2554 Edgemont Avenue, 738 Mobile Street, and 407-409 Pine Street, Contract No. 144-D-GO-08-18-06, be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest bid received for said work. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby directed to execute contract with the said contractor for the construction of said improvements. The Property HAROLD Addresses are as follows: The property addresses are as follows: Base Bid: 2554 Edgemont GETTY Avenue, 738 Mobile St., and 407-09 Pine Street. The bids were as follows: Ward 3 IoHN A. Frickson Brothers: $26,500.00 KINCAID Kayser Plumbing : $28,487.00 Ward 4Lehman Trucking: $33,865.00 RON WEEPER After review of the bids, it is recommended that the award of the contract be made to the lowest Wards responsible bidder, Lehman Trucking in the amount of$33, 865.00. Although Frickson BOB Excavating and Kayser Backhoe, Inc. both submitted lower bids they failed to attend a GREENWOOD Mandatory Site Visit as set forth in the enclosed Addendum No. 1. The purpose of the site At-Large visit was to ensure clarity and consistency and to eliminate potential change orders. For EACH Structure, the CONTRACTOR shall remove all basement, foundation, and footings in their entirety. 2. FENCE/TREE REMOVAL AND GRUBBING At 738 Mobile St. CONTRACTOR shall remove the fence and all volunteer trees and shrubs along the fence line. All other trees designated for removal are marked with white paint. To insure clarity and consistency in quotes a MANDATORY SITE VISIT is scheduled for Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at 9 a.m., 738 Mobile St., Waterloo, IA.
