RESOLUTION NO. 2009-116 RESOLUTION MAKING AWARD OF CONTRACT TO DENVER CONSTRUCTION, INC. OF DENVER, IOWA FOR THE WATERLOO DROP OFF SITE RECYCLING COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL PROGRAM, AT A COST OF $54 . 26 PER TON. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA: That the bid of Denver Construction, Inc . of Denver, Iowa, at a cost of $54 . 26 per ton for the Waterloo Drop Off Site Recycling Collection and Disposal Program, described in the plans and specifications heretofore adopted by this Council for said project, after public hearing on published notice required by law, be and is hereby accepted, the same being the lowest bid received for said work. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby directed to execute contract with the said contractor for the construction of said improvements, said contract not to be binding on the City until approved by this Council . HURLEY 'f��v • Mayor Hurley &City Council COUNCIL City Hall MEMBERS Waterloo, IA 50703 REGINALD Mayor Hurley and City Council Members, SCHMITT Ward 1 After reviewing the bids and other considerations, it is our recommendation CAROLYN that we reject the bid from Black Hawk Waste Disposal for the drop off site recycling COLE collection and disposal program and that we wish to award the bid to the second low Ward 2 bidder, Denver Construction, Inc. at a cost of$54.26 per ton. HAROLD GETTY City staff has great concern with Black Hawk Waste Disposal's financial Ward 3 situation due to tax garnishments and dealing with them could be risky and could end up being more expensive.
