Enclosed please find three copies of an Agreement between the City of Waterloo
HA.ROLD and the Iowa DOT regarding a traffic safety grant.

Ward 3 The City of Waterloo has applied for and received a grant from the Iowa DOT to
JOHN A. conduct a traffic safety study at the above-mentioned location. Although

RON Traffic Safety Grant Funds are usually awarded for either traffic control devices or
VWELPER construction type projects to improve safety. This grant is one of the Iowa DOT's
Ward' rare awards, which will allow us to conduct a study. The grant amount is $50,000. It
BOB will cover purchasing some equipment and hiring a consultant. These costs are
GREENWOOD 100% reimbursable up to the grant amount. We are planning a high-tech approach
At-Large to capture video documentation of each crash.
ERIC The staff has reviewed this Agreement and recommends approval. I Nould like to
GUNDERSON ask that this Agreement be approved and the Traffic Operations Department
At-Large Superintendent be authorized to acquire goods and services for this project
according to the City's normal procedures. This item will be on the May 8, 2006
Council Agenda.
