Head Signature: SG # of Attachments: 1 SUBJECT: US 63/Ridgeway Engineering Design Services Agreement Addendum#1 Submitted by: Sandie Greco, Traffic Operations Superintendent Recommended City Council Action: Resolution approving an addendum for increasing the maximum payable engineering services amount to Ament Engineering by$6,500 and authorizing the mayor to sign the addendum. Summary Statement Request for approval of Ament's Engineering Design Services agreement for the above referenced project and authorizing the mayor to sign the attached Addendum. Expenditure Required Additional amount of up to$6,500 is required. The original agreement amount is $32,900. The new amount will be$39,400. Source of Funds City G.O. Bonds. Policy Issue Alternative Background Information: The Agreement covers design of both Williston/218 and 63/Ridgeway intersection. The 63/Ridgeway required extra work that was not anticipated at the time of signing the agreement as listed below: 1- Design changes based on Iowa DOT's review of preliminary plans. Mast arm pole configuration was changed to keep the existing truss. 2- Additional surveying and design effort was also necessary when it was determined that the existing roadway culvert to drain the median adjacent to the lengthened northeast-bound US 63 left-turn lane could not be utilized and that two new pipe culverts would need to be jacked under the southwest-bound lanes of US 63. 3- Pursuant of City's efforts the DOT agreed to undertake construction review and inspection for this project. This saves the City significant amount of money in engineering services costs. To do this DOT requires a DOT letting. Changes to plans and specifications format must be done to accommodate a DOT letting.
