RESOLUTION SETTING DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING AS
SEPTEMBER 21, 2026, TO APPROVE A REQUEST BY
YASHPAL SAINI TO REZONE APPROXIMATELY 5.29
ACRES FROM "A-1" AGRICULTURAL DISTRICT TO "R-2"
ONE AND TWO-FAMILY RESIDENCE DISTRICT IN ORDER
TO SPLIT THE LOTS TO ALLOW FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF SINGLE-FAMILY HOMES LOCATED SOUTH OF 1220
BISHOP AVENUE TO 1304 BISHOP AVENUE, AND
INSTRUCT THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE.
WHEREAS, Yashpal Saini has submitted a request to rezone approximately 5.29 acres
from "A-1" Agricultural District to "R-2" One and Two -Family Residence District; and
WHEREAS, the requested rezoning is intended to allow for the construction of single-
family homes located south of 1220 Bishop Avenue to 1304 Bishop Avenue; and
WHEREAS, before proceeding with the requested amendment to the City's zoning
regulations and zoning map, the City Council must hold a public hearing following publication
of notice as required by law.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. A public hearing be set for September 21, 2026, to receive public comments on the
request by Yashpal Saini to rezone approximately 5.29 acres from "A-1" Agricultural District to
"R-2" One and Two -Family Residence District in order to split the lots to allow for the
construction of single-family homes located south of 1220 Bishop Avenue to 1304 Bishop
Avenue.
2. The City Clerk is directed to publish notice of said public hearing as required by law.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of September 2026.
