RESOLUTION NO. 2026-526
RESOLUTION APPROVING AN APPLICATION TO THE IOWA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION SEEKING FUNDING
THROUGH THE IOWA CLEAN AIR ATTAINMENT PROGRAM TO
ESTABLISH A MICROTRANSIT PILOT PROGRAM WITHIN THE
CITIES OF WATERLOO AND CEDAR FALLS, IOWA.
WHEREAS the City of Waterloo, Iowa, recognizes the need to expand and enhance
transportation options for residents, employees, visitors, and transit -dependent populations
within the Waterloo -Cedar Falls metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, a microtransit pilot program would provide flexible, demand -responsive
transportation service within designated areas of the Cities of Waterloo and Cedar Falls; and
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation administers the Iowa Clean Air
Attainment Program, which provides funding for eligible projects that support improved air
quality and transportation mobility; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo desires to submit an application to the Iowa
Department of Transportation seeking Iowa Clean Air Attainment Program funding to establish a
Microtransit Pilot Program within the Cities of Waterloo and Cedar Falls, Iowa.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. The application to the Iowa Department of Transportation seeking funding through the
Iowa Clean Air Attainment Program for the establishment of a Microtransit Pilot Program within
the Cities of Waterloo and Cedar Falls, Iowa, is hereby approved.
