Recommended City Council Action:
Staff has reviewed this agreement and recommends Council approve this document and authorizes
Mayor to sign and enter into said agreement.
Summary Statement
This is an agreement for Professional Services with Craig Ritland Landscape Architect to provide
final design, plans and specifications for the FY 2010 Downtown Wayfinding Signage project.
Expenditure Required
The compensation under this agreement will be a lump sum in the amount of S20,000.

Background Information:
In 2009, a comprehensive plan was put together for implementation of a wayfinding system in
downtown Waterloo to provide helpful visitor direction to downtown destinations. Craig Ritland
Landscape Architects teamed with Vandewalle and Associates, Inc. to complete a study with a
detailed downtown wayfinding plan and signage concepts vetted with local stakeholders.
