Moved by Hart, seconded by Schmitt that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried Objective: Sewer Rate Increase Michelle Weidner, Chief Financial Officer, explained the need to increase sewer rates to cover the increased cost of capital improvements. Bob Bamsey, AECOM, explained the necessary treatment plant improvements and the improvements necessary to meet EPA requirements. Mr. Schmitt confirmed that these increases are in addition to the equipment already purchased and the additional staff hired. Michelle Weidner, Chief Financial Officer, reviewed the rate increase. The rate will increase approximately $3.35 per month for a residential customer. Mr. Lind expressed concern with not having discussed this at the budget hearing. Ms. Cole explained that the sewer fund does not affect the 8.10 levy. Mr. Lind asked for a detailed list of projects that will be done at the request of EPA and a list of demands from EPA. Mayor Clark explained that there is not a list of demands from EPA at this time. The City is working on trying to remedy the problems before the EPA mandates the fixes. Mr. Bamsey explained that EPA will not dictate the projects, they will dictate the outcome. Mr. Lind suggested waiting until we know what the requirements are. Michelle Weidner explained that the City knows that these projects will improve the City's situation. With no further business before the Council, it was moved by Hart, seconded by Cole that the meeting be adjourned at 5:11 p.m. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
