HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes-3/26/2014MEMORIAL HALL COMMISSION March 26, 2014 5:00 p.m. Veterans Memorial Hall Members present: White, Miller, Hastings, Hockey, Courbat, Ticknor, Dennis, McMahon, Mrzlak, and Ambrosy. Members absent: Robinson Moved by Ambrosy, seconded by Ticknor that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Ten. Moved by McMahon, seconded by Miller that the Minutes of February 26, 2014, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Ten. Citizens Oral Comments Richard Hurtado, 1838 W. 3rd Street, #B, reported that the landscaping is in need of maintenance and had contacted Craig in regards to painting the eave troughs. Treasurer's Report Marcia Courbat gave the March Treasurer's Report. Ms. Courbat reported that the commission has sold 2845 bricks at $50.00 each and 5 bricks at $250.00 each for a total of $143,500.00 with a balance of $8,911.53 in the Brick Fund. Chairperson's Report Chairperson White reported that the 3rd annual fund raiser for the Waterloo Honor Flight will take place May 2, 2014; sponsorship is $200.00 per table. On March 31st at 9:30 a.m. there will be a veteran's quilt presentation at Bridges, 214 Washington Street. Moved by Miller, seconded by Hastings to sponsor 1 table in the afternoon and 2 in the evening with a total sponsorship of $600.00. Committee Reports Building, Grounds & Operations—Richard Hastings reported that the security system he was looking into is no longer available. The window will be picked up this Friday with installation to follow in the next week. Education/Historical—Randall Miller reported that he is still working on fiber optics for the building and Mr. Rooff hasn't responded to the TV request yet. Finance/Fundraising—Marcia Courbat reported she has a full copy of all the brick owners. She was unable to apply for the grant because Memorial Hall is part of the City of Waterloo. What amount has been budgeted for FY15 for the upkeep of the grounds? Tree's need to be removed and replanted, new mulch laid, and sidewalks/patio to be cleaned off. Unfinished Business None. New Business Members will not be available to meet on April 23rd Moved by McMahon, seconded by Ticknor to meet on April 22nd. Ayes: Ten.
