Mayor John R. Rooff in the Chair. Roll call: Kincaid, Welper, Greenwood, Jordan, Hurley, Getty. Absent: Clark. Mayor Rooff, Councilpersons Getty and Jordan gave comments. ADJOURNMENT 119241 - Welper/Jordan that that the council adjourn at 11:05 a.m. Ayes: Six. Absent: Clark. Motion carried. District Court Judge James Bauch administered the Oath of Office to Mayor -elect Tim Hurley. Motion carried. 119252 - Welper/Kincaid that "Resolution naming US Bank, Iowa Public Agency Investment Trust, Union Planters Bank, Wells Fargo Bank N.A., Bank Iowa, Community National Bank, MidwestOne Bank & Trust, John Deere Community Credit Union and Public Employees Credit Union as depositories for the City of Waterloo", be adopted. Ayes: Five. Absent: Clark. Resolution adopted and upon approval by Mayor assigned No. 2004-1. Mayor Hurley thanked Mayor Rooff and Councilpersons Getty and Jordan. Mayor Hurley thanked everyone for participating in today's ceremony and for sharing their time and God given talents. Mayor Hurley explained his expectations and his strategy to make Waterloo a better place to live. Mayor Hurley explained that it will be his mission to keep the businesses, the people, the nonprofits and organizations we have and bring in new ones. Mayor Hurley stated that our citizens are our most important customers, they are our bosses. Mayor Hurley quoted Reverend Jesse Jacks and 1913 Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Mayor Hurley stated, "Look out Iowa, look out world, because here comes Waterloo, because we are somebody." Mayor Hurley stated that the key to Waterloo's success will be getting residence to embrace a new spirit and sense of community. Mayor Hurley asked citizens to focus on Waterloo's positives and work together to move the community forward. ADJOURNMENT 119253 - Gunderson/Kincaid that the Council adjourn at 12:01 p.m. Ayes: Five.
