Members present: Jacobs, Amos, and Powers.
Mr. Amos requested a motion to open the meeting, then made a statement regarding the
retraction of the recommended appointment of Terry Pearson Stevens to the Human Rights
Commission because she currently sits on another board. He believes it is necessary for council
to hold a work session to discussion the issues surrounding commission members serving on
more than one board or committee and a time.
Mayor Hart added that within the next month, a Work Session or an Ordinance Committee
should be scheduled to review this and other concerns.
City Clerk, Kelley Felchle, cautioned Council that the agenda has been amended to remove the
item, and believes it is not appropriate to further discuss the issue at this time and believes a
Work Session is appropriate.
Mr. Morrissey acknowledged the City Clerk's concern, but believes that because no motion was
made to change the agenda, the item is subject for discussion. Mr. Morrissey shared his
understanding of term rules and questioned an ordinance prohibiting dually serving. He further
shared his support in appointing Ms. Stevens.
Mr. Amos supports the City Clerk's urging to postpone further discussion until a Work Session
can be scheduled.
With no further business before the Council, it was moved by Jacobs seconded by Powers that
the meeting be adjourned at 5:08 p.m. Ayes: Three. Motion carried.
