Members present: Jacobs, Morrissey, Powers, Lind, Amos, Schmitt, and Welper.
Moved by Schmitt seconded by Lind that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Voice vote:
Ayes -Seven. Motion carried.
Objective: Budget Work Session # 6 - Property Valuation Review.
Michelle Weidner, Chief Financial Officer, provided an overview of the property valuations for
FY2018 provided by Black Hawk County. Weidner reviewed trends in property values and an
overview of the budget process going forward.
Mr. Lind questioned the impact of defunding the roll back replacement at the state level.
Michelle Weidner explained that she has heard that payments to all cities could be reduced by
$20-26 million which could be up to $100,000 for Waterloo.
Mr. Lind questioned how much salaries and benefits would increase next year.
Michelle Weidner said that information isn't ready yet.
Michelle Weidner outlined a tentative timeline for future budget meetings.
With no further business before the Council, it was moved by Schmitt seconded by Amos that
the meeting be adjourned at 4:46 p.m. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
