Several citizens had comments requiring the Sidewalk Repair Assessment Program. Tom Anderson, 404 Wendell Court, stated that he was notified by the city to make repairs to a sidewalk on Oneida Street. Mr. Anderson hired a contractor to make the repairs, but the contractor never completed the project. Tim Mrozek, Traffic Engineer, presented the Hammond Avenue Traffic Study. A traffic count for the Hammond Avenue/Ridgeway Avenue was taken on September 9, 1997. The 24 hour study revealed that Ridgeway Avenue carries 9,860 vehicles per day and Hammond Avenue carries 8,205 vehicles per day. Mr. Mrozek presented the following broad suggestions: 4 -lane consideration when ADT equates to 10,000 vehicles per day; main roadways capacity equates to 450 vehicle per hour per lane; exclusive right -turn lane should be considered when volumes exceed 300 vehicle per hour per lane. The study suggests that the traffic is going north on Hammond Avenue, and that the increased traffic is coming from the Crossroads area and not from GMAC. It was suggested that a meeting be scheduled with the residents in the area.
