The Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in Regular Session at City Hall Council
Chambers, Waterloo, Iowa, at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, August 18, 1997. Mayor John R. Rooff
in the Chair. Roll Call: Getty, Jordan, Krizek, Murphy, Anders, Collier, Mollenhoff.
Invocation by: Reverend Mark Medina, Immanuel Presbyterian Church
Pledge of Allegiance: Councilperson Barb Krizek
108935 - Mollenhoff/Jordan
that the Agenda, as amended, for the Regular Session on Monday, August 18, 1997,
at 7:00 p.m., be accepted and approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
108936 - Jordan/Collier
that the Minutes, as proposed, for the Regular Session on Monday, August 11,
1997, at 7:00 p.m., be accepted and approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
Mayor Rooff performed the swearing-in of Police Officer Robert Duncan.
Mayor Rooff read a proclamation declaring September 1997 as America Goes Back to
School: Get Involved! Month.
HEARINGS
108937 - Mollenhoff/Collier
that proof of publication of notice of public hearing on request of Freddie Epps
on the sale and conveyance of property generally located near the southeast
corner of Mullan Avenue and Mulberry Street for $400.00 as published in the
Waterloo Courier on August 11, 1997, be received and placed on file. Ayes:
Seven. Motion carried.
108938 - This being the time and place of public hearing, the Mayor called for written and
oral objections and there were none.

that the hearing be closed. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
108939 - Murphy/Jordan
that "Resolution authorizing the sale and conveyance of property generally
located near the southeast corner of Mullan Avenue and Mulberry Street to Freddie
Epps for $400.00", be adopted, and City Attorney instructed to prepare and
deliver a deed accordingly. Ayes: Seven.
Resolution adopted and upon approval by Mayor assigned No. 1997-479.
108940 - Mollenhoff/Krizek
that proof of publication of notice of public hearing on the Sewer Use Ordinance
which establishes sewer use, user charge and industrial wastewater pretreatment
requirements, as published in the Waterloo Courier on August 11, 1997, be
received and placed on file. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
108941 - This being the time and place of public hearing, the Mayor called for written and
oral objections and there were none.
Councilperson Anders questioned why there is a 30 -day comment period before the
ordinance can be adopted.
Bob Stevenson, Administrative Director, stated that the 30 -day comment period is
required by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

that "an Ordinance adopting the Sewer Use Ordinance which establishes sewer use,
user charge and industrial wastewater pretreatment requirements", be received,
placed on file, considered and passed for the first time. Ayes: Seven. Motion
carried.
