HEARINGS - CONTINUED
Councilperson Getty suggested that the council deal with the site plan amendment
and set up a neighborhood meeting to discuss the alley access.
Mayor Rooff directed the council and the Planning, Programming and Zoning
Commission to set up a meeting with the property owners.
Councilperson Mollenhoff agreed that the council needed to get clarification from
property owners on the alley issue.
Councilperson Krizek suggested that the site plan amendment be tabled for one
week, and that a meeting be set up with the property owners to resolve the issue.

108694 - HOLD HEARING—This being the time and place of public hearing, the Mayor called
for oral and written objections.
Mary Haas, 116 Courtland, stated that if the city closes East Seventh Street, the
barricades on Irving Street should be removed.
Don Temeyer, City Planner, stated that Peoples Community Health Clinic will
provide approximately 154 parking spots for the proposed development. Peoples
Community Health Clinic is working with Expo School to develop a plan on the use
of the alley and whether the school will maintain the alley.
Councilperson Getty questioned if the removal of the barricades on Irving Street
requires council action. Mayor Rooff stated that he would like input from
council members and city staff on removal of the barricades.
Mayor Rooff requested input from Police Chief Bernie Koerhsen and Fire Chief
Frank Magsamen on the closing of the alley.

Prior to a vote on the above motion, the following comments were heard.
Councilperson Jordan reiterated his opposition to bow hunting deer in the Katoski
Greenbelt. Councilperson Jordan agrees there is a problem of overpopulation of
deer in this area, but cannot support bow hunting near trails or residences. He
feels there are alternative methods of deer management. He stated that there
have been many articles on the Internet regarding this issue.
Mayor Rooff asked Councilperson Jordan to share his ideas with the Department of
Natural Resources and to report back to the council at next week's council
meeting.
Councilperson Mollenhoff supported Councilperson Jordan in his quest for
alternative me.hods of deer management. Councilperson Mollenhoff agrees that
there is an overpopulation of deer in the area, but he believes there are better
means of controlling the population than bow hunting.
Following discussion, a vote was taken on the above motion with the following
result. Ayes: Five. Nays: Jordan, Mollenhoff. Motion carried.
