4:00 p.m.
First Floor Conference Room
Members present: Getty, Anders, Krizek, Mollenhoff, Jordan.
Members absent: Murphy, Collier.
Moved by Getty, seconded by Mollenhoff that the Agenda, as
proposed, be approved. Ayes: Four. Absent: Murphy, Collier,
Jordan. Motion carried.
Agenda items for the council meeting to be held on Monday, June 2,
1997, were reviewed and discussed with representatives from
departments that have items on the agenda.
Jordan now present at 4:13 p.m.
Mollenhoff stated that he hasn't been able to determine if the
animals are dangerous with the conflicting testimony that was
given. The movement of the appeal process to district court may
result in different testimony by persons under oath. Assistant
City Attorney Sang-ki Han stated that district court probably
wouldn't take additional testimony but only address the facts of
the appeal process.
With no further discussion on the matter, it was moved by
Mollenhoff, seconded by Jordan to deny the appeal of Shannon
Nielson on the order to dispose of the dogs. Ayes: Getty, Anders,
Krizek, Jordan, Mollenhoff. Absent: Murphy, Collier. Motion
carried.
Getty reported receiving complaints about the choice of a single
vendor to My Waterloo Days for soda products. He doesn't agree
with the process in which My Waterloo Days went outside of Waterloo
for sponsorship over a company such as Pepsi who employs one
hundred people in Waterloo. Getty will be asking for a financial
statement from the Chamber to account where the funds for My
Waterloo Days go.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty,
seconded by Jordan that the meeting be adjourned at 4:29 p.m.
Ayes: Five. Absent: Murphy, Collier_ Motion carried.
