HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/29/1997CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION May 29, 1997 4:00 p.m. First Floor Conference Room Members present: Getty, Anders, Krizek, Mollenhoff, Jordan. Members absent: Murphy, Collier. Moved by Getty, seconded by Mollenhoff that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Four. Absent: Murphy, Collier, Jordan. Motion carried. Agenda items for the council meeting to be held on Monday, June 2, 1997, were reviewed and discussed with representatives from departments that have items on the agenda. Jordan now present at 4:13 p.m. Mollenhoff stated that he hasn't been able to determine if the animals are dangerous with the conflicting testimony that was given. The movement of the appeal process to district court may result in different testimony by persons under oath. Assistant City Attorney Sang-ki Han stated that district court probably wouldn't take additional testimony but only address the facts of the appeal process. With no further discussion on the matter, it was moved by Mollenhoff, seconded by Jordan to deny the appeal of Shannon Nielson on the order to dispose of the dogs. Ayes: Getty, Anders, Krizek, Jordan, Mollenhoff. Absent: Murphy, Collier. Motion carried. Getty reported receiving complaints about the choice of a single vendor to My Waterloo Days for soda products. He doesn't agree with the process in which My Waterloo Days went outside of Waterloo for sponsorship over a company such as Pepsi who employs one hundred people in Waterloo. Getty will be asking for a financial statement from the Chamber to account where the funds for My Waterloo Days go. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Getty, seconded by Jordan that the meeting be adjourned at 4:29 p.m. Ayes: Five. Absent: Murphy, Collier_ Motion carried.
