Members absent: Mollenhoff, Collier, Murphy.
Moved by Jordan, seconded by Anders to approve the agenda as proposed. Ayes: Four.
Absent: Mollenhoff, Collier, Murphy. Motion carried.
Agenda items for the council meeting to be held on Monday, February 24, 1997, were
reviewed and discussed with representatives from departments that have items on the
agenda.
With no further business before the council, it was moved by Jordan, seconded by Krizek
to adjourn the meeting at 4:35 p.m. Ayes: Four. Absent: Mollenhoff, Collier, Murphy.
Motion carried.

The Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, met in Regular Session at City Hall Council
Chambers, Waterloo, Iowa, at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 1997, Mayor John R. Rooff
in the Chair. Roll Call: Getty, Jordan, Krizek, Murphy, Anders, Collier, Mollenhoff.

Mayor Rooff recognized Gray Transportation, Inc., and owner LeRoy Gray as business of the
week.

that the Agenda, as amended, for the Regular Session on Monday, February 17,
1997 at 7:00 p.m., be accepted and approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
108000 - Jordan/Murphy
that the Minutes as proposed, for the Regular Session on Monday, February 10,
1997 at 7:00 p.m., be accepted and approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
Recognition of W. D. Carter on his promotion to the position of Lieutenant.
Major Dexter Sutherland recognized the City of Waterloo for supporting the Junior ROTC
program.
HEARINGS AND BIDS
108001 - Mollenhoff/Collier
that the proof of publication of notice of public hearing on the specifications
for the Byrnes Park Golf Course Irrigation System as published in the Waterloo
Courier on January 31, 1997, be received and placed on file. Ayes: Seven.
Motion carried.
108002 - HOLD HEARING --This being the time and place of public hearing, the Mayor called
for oral and written objections and there were none.

that the hearing be closed. Ayes: Seven Motion carried.
108003 - Murphy/Jordan
to instruct Superintendent of Parks to prepare new plans, specifications, etc.
for the Byrnes Park Golf Course Irrigation System. Ayes: Seven. Motion
carried.
108004 - Krizek/Jordan
that communication from Assistant City Attorney transmitting request of Pony
Express to participate in a fund drive on March 8, 1997 at the intersection of
Kimball Avenue and Mitchell Avenue and on March 15, 1997 at the intersection of
West Ninth Street and Mitchell Avenue be received, placed on file and approved.
Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
108005 - Krizek/Jordan
that communication from March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation requesting
authorization to hold the annual March of Dimes WalkAmerica on May 4, 1997 to
begin and end at the Waterloo Municipal Stadium be received, placed on file and
approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
108006 - Krizek/Jordan
that communication from City Planner transmitting request of Barry Eisnaugle to
vacate, sell and convey for $10,000.00 the portion of frontage road generally
located between Lorraine and Easton Avenues, serving the Stars & Stripes video
store at 1326 LaPorte Road, to redevelop for a fitness center, together with
recommendation of approval of the Planning, Programming and Zoning Commission be
received, placed on file and "Resolution setting date of hearing as March 3,
1997 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers on the above described
request", be adopted and City Clerk instructed to publish notice of the same.

that communication from Assistant City Planner transmitting the Fiscal Year 1996
Annual Report of the Waterloo Planning, Programming and Zoning Commission be
received and placed on file. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried.
