ORDINANCES TO BE ADOPTED 110657 - Getty/Jordan that "an Ordinance amending the 1993 Code of Ordinances by adding Section 9-10, Contractor Licensing, of Chapter 9, Building Code (establishing licensing fees, General Contractors Board for Licensing and Examiners)", be received, placed on file, considered and passed for the first time. Prior to a vote on the above motion, the following comments were heard. Mayor Rooff reported that existing general contractors will be exempt from the testing requirement as long as they hold a state registration number from the Iowa Department of Labor. Mr. Murphy's wife works at Allen Hospital and on Friday she was involved in the treatment of a 17 month old baby. The baby's mother did not have any food in the house and with the holiday, no organizations were available to help her. Councilperson Murphy wanted to thank Allen Hospital nurses and staff, Walter Reed and Scott's Electric who generously donated funds to this family to help them buy food to get them through the weekend.
