Nancy Eckert City Clerk COUNCIL WORK SESSION March 2, 1998 5:15 p.m. Large Conference Room Members present: Mayor Rooff, Getty, Murphy, Jordan, Anders, Krizek, Mollenhoff, Collier Moved by Jordan, seconded by Mollenhoff that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried. The proposed F.Y. 1999 Budget was reviewed. The council reviewed the FY98 Amended and FY99 Proposed Budget Comparison. The budget has been published with a $16.98 levy. The council can lower the levy but not increase it. The proposed budget will lower property tax on a residential home approximately .6 percent. The Budget Review Committee will meet on Thursday, March 5, 1998 to review the proposed FY 1999 Budget. With no further business before the council, it was moved by Jordan, seconded by Mollenhoff that the meeting be adjourned at 5:45 p.m. Ayes: Seven. Motion carried. Moved by Jordan, seconded by Mollenhoff that the Agenda, as proposed, be approved. Ayes: Six. Absent: Collier. Motion carried. The proposed 5 Year General Obligation Bond Program and the FY 1999 Capital Equipment Program were reviewed. The recommended five-year General Obligation Bond Program totals $26,595.00, which is less than the Mayor/Council goal of $26,750.00. The Mayor and City Council requested that future bonding reduce the city's bonding indebtedness by $5,000,000 over the next five years. The recommended program accomplishes that goal. The Capital Equipment Program for Fiscal Year 1999 totals $1,060,000 and is being funded from a combination of funds, including sewer, sanitation, local option sales tax and general obligation bonds.
